For those of you planning to drive with an Activan towards France, we recommend a first stop in Argelès sur mer.

Argelès is a French-Catalan municipality with the most campsites in France, perhaps in the world. To be honest, we prefer to choose campsites that are close to the beach and cosy - we like to leave the water parks and entertainment to the left. But there is that here too.

We, as water sports enthusiasts, would like to recommend the Club Emeraude, run by Nina and Ugo, who take care of their beach club with a lot of heart and soul.

They offer a variety of water sports: Windsurfing, stand up paddling, catamaran, wing foiling, kayaks etc. If you like, you can also book a beach lounger with umbrella for 10€/day.

As an Activans customer, if you rent a sunbed from Club Emeraude or use other services, you get a VIP parking space during the day in the beach car park directly behind Club Emeraude.

When the evening approaches, it is best to look for a campsite, and Nina can give you the best advice here.

Our tip is the 4-star Camping La Marende, which is only a 5-minute walk away from Club Emeraude. It's good value, the sanitary facilities get 5 stars and the pitches are shady and spacious. The manageable size of the campsite makes for a very family atmosphere, and there are mobile homes as well as pitches. The newly built pool is just the thing after a day on the water (please shower off the salt beforehand), here you can really unwind.

If you want to stretch your legs in the evening, we recommend a 15-minute walk to the Bamboo restaurant on the grounds of the Hippocampe campsite.
